The What and the Why

Welcome to The Back Bedroom.

This blog will serve as an open forum for our family (both nuclear and extended) to reminisce about the past, revisit our more youthful moments and dig up old and thought-to-be forgotten jokes. Most importantly, I decided that if we wanted to stay fresh, close and appreciative of where we are and why, then we must have a written account of our familial past.

There are rules though and this site will only work if we adhere to them. I see no reason in rehashing things that happened in our past that were negative or damaging. It's one thing to make fun of me getting in trouble at choir practice for taking two oreo's instead of one and then lying about it, running home and trying to dupe mom and dad, but it's another thing to bring up painful memories. Be smart. Don't post things that are going to damage anything or rekindle a dormant issue from the past.

Keep this fun and on topic. While I will be talking mostly about my early years, please feel free to talk about your early years and anything worthwhile FROM THE PAST. I know that both of my parents, Kristin and Uncle John have a ton of stories about their childhood, so let's hear them too!

How do I post?

First you will need to login. If I have not told you the login name or password yet, then send me an email. After you login, then it is simple. Click the button that says "New Post" or "Create". Once you hit that, then the program works a lot like Word. Figure it out.

Since there will be multiple writers, you might see some posts that are listed as "drafts". Don't mess with those or read them. Wait until the author is finished with it and then give your thoughts. It'll be worth it.

Comments

I think the best way to leave comments would be to do as you do on my other blogs. This is better because it notifies you when someone comments on your post. The difference will be that if someone comments on your post and adds to the story or presents it in a new light, then it is your responsibility to update your original post with the comment additions. This is very important. You must publish those comments on the original post. Don't let them get lost in the comments page.

The comments are the most crucial part of this blog. This is not just a diary written by one person. This is an interactive forum for all of us to discuss the past. If you don't have any connection to the story, then don't worry about commenting.

Email Address

I have created a neutral email address that we will all use for the purpose of this blog. The address is weirdbugs@yahoo.com and I will send you the password.

So, have fun and start thinking about some classic memories from the vault.
